A Touch of Class
04 August 9:00am

The growth of Premiership Touch Rugby has been phenomenal and this year’s programme expected to see over 1,000 teams and 12,000 participants

The finals of the Premiership Touch Rugby tournament take place at Twickenham today, where those teams that have made it through from the regional finals have the chance to compete to be crowned Premiership Touch Rugby Champions of England.

The Premiership Touch Rugby leagues around the country have been welcoming men and women of all ages and abilities this summer from May to August to play touch rugby, keep fit, make new friends and have fun! Extended venues for this year have seen leagues taking place at rugby clubs throughout England with some leagues at actual Guinness Premiership club grounds.

The majority have been mixed sex leagues with men’s, women’s and veteran’s leagues also available subject to demand.

The growth of Premiership Touch Rugby has been phenomenal and this year’s programme expected to see over 1,000 teams and 12,000 participants across England, the biggest touch rugby tournament of its kind.

It has helped spread the popularity of the game of rugby, and its non-contact nature, social aspect, and low time commitment have made it appealing to men and women who also have work, family and social commitments but who enjoy exercising in a social environment.

Premiership Touch Rugby is a partnership between Premier Rugby Ltd, the Guinness Premiership Clubs, the RFU, and participating clubs who act as venues for the leagues, and International Touch Rugby.

Premiership Touch Rugby’s Glenn Whiu, said, “Premiership Touch Rugby has really grown and it is a great opportunity for players from all levels to stay fit, have some fun and experience a unique and healthy social set-up during the summer months”.

So get your team together and come down to celebrate the end of another fantastic season of Premiership Touch Rugby.
